Experts and innovators from a cross-section of industries will discuss the future infrastructure needs of the agriculture sector and rural America at a summit just prior to next week’s Farm Progress Show.
AEM and Agri-Pulse are teaming up to produce the Rural Infrastructure Summit, which takes place on August 29 from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Iowa State Center in Ames, Iowa. A networking reception will follow.
Who should attend?
AEM members; members of the agricultural community; Farm Progress show attendees; federal, state and local policy makers; infrastructure enthusiasts; and supply-chain and logistics experts.
Why?
Infrastructure is inextricably linked to agriculture and rural development. How the U.S. agriculture community plans on feeding a world population of 9.6 billion by the year 2050 depends on the efficiency of our infrastructure.
“Not only is members’ equipment in operation on farms across the world, but in many cases, that equipment is manufactured in rural communities themselves,” said Kate Fox Wood, campaign director for AEM’s Infrastructure Vision 2050. “Add that to the impact that quality U.S. infrastructure has directly on the health of the ag economy and AEM members have a huge stake in ensuring that we make real progress in fixing and rethinking U.S. infrastructure as a whole.”
Wood noted that AEM’s ag sector members play a pivotal role in advocacy efforts and in the Infrastructure Vision 2050 initiative.
“What good is it if producers have record-breaking yields but no way to get it to where it needs go?” she asked.
