AEM member Screen Machine Industries celebrated its 50th anniversary on Thursday , and I Make America was on hand to pay tribute to the company’s many contributions to the equipment manufacturing industry.

More than 500 Screen Machine employees, their families, dealers and suppliers from throughout the United States gathered at the company’s Etna, Ohio factory. The celebration featured local barbecue, factory tours and interactive product demonstrations.

The I Make America truck was among the many parts of the day’s festivities, and offered an opportunity for Screen Machine employees and the Etna community to get involved on behalf of manufacturing.

The program to celebrate the formal anniversary featured shows of support from many Ohio elected leaders, including a taped congratulations message from U.S. Sen. Rob Portman, and a proclamation delivered by the company’s state representative. Ohio Treasurer Josh Mandel also joined the festivities at SMI.

Company President Steve Cohen joined his father – company founder Bernard Cohen – in reflecting over the company’s 50 years of success at the special luncheon.

Cohen told Columbus CEO about the company’s anniversary: “Columbus is a rare gem. It is an extremely affordable place to start and grow a business, and it is a perfect test market in demographics for small businesses … It is the perfect place to balance growth of your business while raising a family.”
