You hear a lot about the trade war on the news. But what does it mean for me? What does that mean for the equipment manufacturing industry? There’s so much going on about how it impacts our region, the Dairy State, and the country, but what’s important to me is how it impacts us in Kronenwetter, Wisconsin and our surrounding communities.
Thanks to I Make America’s Pancakes & Policy tour, I had the opportunity to learn more about trade, infrastructure, and workforce development right here at Woods Equipment. I was most interested to learn about tariffs. I Make America’s team talked about the impact of tariffs on our economy and on the equipment manufacturing industry. I learned that although tariffs are supposed to be a negotiating tactic used in ongoing discussions with other governments, tariffs end up as a tax on American farmers, equipment manufacturers, and families. We all know China has been a bad actor when it comes to their trade practices, and I think it is time to find another way to get them to clean up their act.
At the end of the day, tariffs are hurting our economy. We need our elected leaders to step up and provide other options for these negotiations, avoid future tariffs, and remove those tariffs that are still in place.
